The power of sacrifce. The "honored dead" became a rallying cry for the soldiers and Gettysburg address which honored them became a symbolic speech for generations (including ours). Sacrifice is a powerful thing, think about "Let's Roll" the idea that some group of people chose to sacrifice any hope of survival in favor of their fellow man is empowering to those for whom the sacrifice was given. "Greater Love Hath No Man than this, that he would lay down His Life for His friends."
